I spent $2K to learn how to tweet...it was the best thing I did

by Sukhpal Saini

In 2023, I was tired. Tired of building. Tired of failing. Tired of doing the same thing over and over hoping the result would be different and being disappointed when it wasn’t.

You see, by that point I had built out 19 different products from start to end, put them in production, only to find no one wanted to use it, pay for it. Even if I got 1 or 2 customers, they would leave after a bit and I wouldn’t know how to get new ones. I had tried everything - listening to podcasts, looking through newsletters, reading GTM books but nothing really worked. I knew I had to make a dramatic change in what I was doing so I did the dumbest thing possible…

…I paid for a $2K course that was going to teach me how to build in public - basically how to tweet. Now most people would have looked at it and said - “Can’t you learn this on Youtube”. I know this because I told a bunch of people around me and that’s exactly what they said LOL.

But that’s not the way I looked at it. To me, I was buying access. Access to a world I knew nothing about. I met people that were equally as motivated to learn this new form of marketing as I was. I had private access to the best instructor on how to be prolific - KP (THE Build in Public on X).

Honestly if you ask me what I remember from the course, it would be hard for me to remember but in the next 12 months, my life changed:

  • KP got hired as a Founder Relations at Paddle and started their AI Launchpad program.

  • I became one of the first people to be admitted (I saw his Xeet) and I ended up becoming one of the Top 5 builders out of 120 around the world.

  • This win eventually got me into Techstars as a solo founder and got me the $120K investment.

All of this happened because I decided to say yes to an opportunity and let it play out.

You see, most people think too short term. They look at an opportunity and say what is it gonna do for me today. hey don't realize that the real value often doesn't show up until the 3rd, 4th domino falls and changes the course of your life.
